LM24: Vierde uur Porsche weet te profiteren van de safety car

Het vierde uur van de 24 uur van Le Mans begon weer achter de safety car. Na de crash va Loïc Duval was er dusdanig veel schade aan de vangrail dat hier 40 minuten voor nodig waren om de vangrail te herstellen. Tijdens de safety car periode zagen we wel de derde Porsche GT van dit weekend vlam vatten.

Na de herstart lijkt het erop dat Loïc Duval in zijn nummer 08 Audi te enthousiast van start gaat. Daar waar de gele vlaggen nog gezwaaid worden geeft hij al gas. Daarin wordt de nummer 18 van Porsche verrast en verliest een positie. Later weet de Porsche die positie weer terug te pakken dus of er straffen volgen, dat zullen we moeten zien. Op dit moment is hier nog geen melding van gemaakt door de wedstrijdleiding.

Na de safety car periode is de voorsprong van de nummer 17 Porsche meer dan een minuut op de nummer 2 de Audi nummer 07. Dit zal nog een hele klus worden om dit gat op racesnelheid dicht te rijden. Er zijn nog 20 uur te gaan maar vooralsnog lijkt Audi hier toch het eerste deukje te hebben opgelopen.

In de GT klasse rijden de nummers 1 t/m 4 na 4 uur racen binnen enkele seconden van elkaar. Als de nummer 97 Aston Martin zijn auto in stelling brengt voor een inhaalpoging, rijdt hij even over het vuil en verliest de auto. Na een ritje over de escape road kan de Aston Martin de weg weer vervolgen op die vierde plaats.

De Nummer 19 Porsche heeft ook nog een close call als hij bij het inhalen van een Ferrari misschien wel iets te veel risico neemt en geraakt wordt door een Ferrari. Geen grote gevolgen maar dit had ook heel anders kunnen aflopen.
