LM24: Dertiende t/m zeventiende uur Audi nummer 7 verliest tijd

Het dertiende uur van deze 24-uur van Le Mans begint spectaculair. De Ferrari nummer 66 lekt brandstof bij het loshalen van de benzineslang, waarna er brand uitbreekt. De monteurs weten de brand te blussen en nadat de monteurs de Ferrari hebben schoongemaakt kan deze zijn weg weer vervolgen.

De Porsche met nummer 19 laat consistente rondetijden zien en bouwt gestaag de voorsprong uit. De nummer 7 Audi verliest een deel van de enige cover, moet de pits in en verliest hier veel tijd. Momenteel rijdt de Audi van onder andere André Lotterer op twee ronden achterstand van de leiders.

Over het geheel genomen verloopt de nacht verder rustig, de regen blijft uit en Porsche weet de voorsprong uit te bouwen naar 1 ronde. De nummer 19 Porsche leidt, nummer 17 Porsche is tweede, met daarachter de nummer 9 Audi, die nog wel tegen de achterkant van een LMP2 auto aan gereden is, maar heeft met een snelle pitstop niet veel tijd verloren.

Wel is er nog een hoofdrol in negatieve zin voor de Nummer 96 Aston Martin hij maakt een zware crash mee. Bij Karting verliest hij de controle over de auto, schiet over de baan door de grindbak en hard in de betonnen muur. De ambulance is naar de locatie van het incident gestuurd. Momenteel wordt Roald Goethe in het ziekenhuis onderzocht. Er wordt een safety car ingezet en de race wordt geneutraliseerd.

In de LM GTE Pro is er drama voor de 99 Aston Martin, nadat ze al eerder in de pits hebben gestaan om de remblokken te vervangen is hij nu gecrashed en komt de pits weer in met schade aan de voorkant. Blijkbaar is hij in contact gekomen met de nummer 2 van de LMP2 klasse de nummer 46 van Oreca - Nissan. De nummer 99 weet de pits te bereiken, de nummer 46 moet de auto parkeren.

Het team van Jeroen Bleekemolen rijdt nog op de vijfde positie, het team van Xavier Maassen op de elfde positie en Ho-Pin Tung rijdt momenteel twaalfde.
