LM24: Tweeëntwintigste uur Audi blijft problemen houden

Nadat de Audi nummer 9 aan het einde van het vorige uur al in de pitbox stond is deze na ongeveer 20 minuten weer naar buiten gereden. Ook de nummer 7 Audi moet op een gegeven moment achteruit de pitbox in. Hij kan weliswaar na enkele minuten zijn weg weer vervolgen, maar dat was iets te voorbarig want een ronde later is de nummer 7 weer binnen. Naar het schijnt is men vergeten de motorkap goed vast te zetten. Als het dan ook tegenzit blijkt in één keer alles verkeerd te gaan.

De leider van de LMP2 staat stil naast de baan. De nummer 47 van het KCMG - Oreca team is bij Indianapolis rechtdoor geschoten. Nadat hij wordt geholpen door de marshalls kan hij zijn weg weer vervolgen. Het lijkt een rijdersfout, want hij rijdt de pits niet in. De voorsprong is weliswaar kleiner geworden maar was voldoende groot om de leiding in de klasse te behouden.

De auto van Jeroen Bleekemolen staat lang stil in de pits, ze hebben ook de derde versnelling verloren en om te voorkomen dat de bak straks helemaal kapot gaat is er toch voor gekozen om de tandwielen te vervangen. Nu zou de race zonder verdere problemen uitgereden moeten kunnen worden.

Het team van Ho-Pin Tung rijdt nog rond op de elfde plaats.
