Strakka Racing ontwikkelt een LMP1-auto

Strakka Racing wil vanaf 2017 met een zelf ontwikkelde LMP1-bolide aan de start verschijnen in het World Endurance Championship. Het team schakelt om die reden per direct over op een ander chassis, zodat het de Dome S103 kan omtoveren tot een LMP1-chassis en daarmee kan testen.

Strakka Racing maakt dit seizoen af met een Gibson 015S, overgenomen van Greaves Motorsport. Het team breidt de capaciteiten en faciliteiten nabij Silverstone uit. De nieuwe regels voor de LMP2-klasse fungeerden als katalysator voor deze LMP1-plannen van Strakka Racing.

Teambaas Dan Walmsley vertelde aan Motorsport.com: "De reglementen voor 2017 beperken het aantal chassisproducenten die in de LMP2 actief mogen zijn. Na alle opties afgewogen te hebben biedt de privateers-klasse in de LMP1 de beste voorwaarden om onze activiteiten voort te zetten."
