Mexico nieuw op WEC-kalender voor 2016

De World Endurance Championship-kalender voor volgend seizoen bestaat uit negen evenementen. Dat is er één meer dan dit jaar. De 6 uur van Mexico City is nieuw op het schema voor 2016, al is het nog wachten op definitieve bevestiging. Het seizoen begint op 17 april met de 6 uur van Silverstone en eindigt op 19 november met de 6 uur van Bahrein.

Pierre Fillon, president van organisator ACO: "Wij zijn van mening dat de tijd rijp is om de kalender uit te breiden, waarbij we voortborduren op de traditie van 6 uurs-races die we opgebouwd hebben in de landen die we bezoeken. De 24 uur van Le Mans is natuurlijk het bekendste evenement op ons schema, maar die sfeer heeft zich verspreid over de overige evenementen en met Mexico krijgen we er een nieuwe aanwinst bij. We zijn trots op de stabiliteit in onze kalender en verheugen ons op 2016."

17 april - 6 uur van Silverstone

7 mei - 6 uur van Spa-Francorchamps

18-19 juni - 24 uur van Le Mans

24 juli - 6 uur van de Nürburgring

4 september - 6 uur van Mexico City

17 september - 6 uur van het Circuit of the Americas

16 oktober - 6 uur van Fuji

6 november - 6 uur van Sjanghai

19 november - 6 uur van Bahrein
