Montoya gaat testen met LMP1 Porsche

Juan-Pablo Montoya gaat volgende maand in Bahrein deelnemen aan de rookie test van het World Endurance Championship. De Colombiaan zal testen in de LMP1-auto van Porsche.

Montoya finishte dit jaar tweede in de IndyCar Series en won voor de tweede keer in zijn carrière de Indy500. Eerder won de Colombiaan die wedstrijd al in 2000, voordat hij in 2001 zijn race-debuut maakte in de Formule 1.

Of de LMP1-test betekent dat Montoya een kandidaat is om volgend jaar deel te nemen aan het WEC is niet duidelijk. Ook over een eventuele deelname aan de 24 uur van Le Mans wordt niets gezegd.

Mocht Montoya deelnemen aan de 24 uur van Le Mans kan hij de tweede coureur zijn die de ‘Triple Crown of Motorsport’ kan winnen. Vooralsnog is Graham Hill de enige coureur met overwinningen in de Grand Prix van Monaco, Indy500 en 24 uur van Le Mans.

      dat lijkt me ook ja.
      enige rare vind ik dat de GP van monaco erbij staat, eigenlijk is het maar een race van niks als je het vergelijkt met de indy 500 en de 24 uur van le mans. bij indy 500 en de 24 uur van le mans kan ''iedereen'' hem winnen.
      bij de GP van monaco wint diegene die op pole staat 9 van de 10 keer bij wijze van spreken.
      had veel liever de GP van engeland erbij gehad ipv de GP van monaco

      Heeft idd met de historische waarde van de race te maken, maar naast de race in Monaco kan men ook een tripple winnen met een F1 wereldtitel.
