ByKolles in 2017 aangedreven door Nissan

Het team van ByKolles heeft Nissan gestrikt als motorleverancier voor komend seizoen in het World Endurance Championship. De renstal van voormalig Formule 1-teambaas Colin Kolles zal dit jaar een beroep doen op motoren van Nissan. Het betreft de 3 liter twin-turbo V6-krachtbron die de Japanse fabrikant twee jaar geleden voor het eigen LMP1-project ontwikkelde. Dat project mislukte jammerlijk.

LMP1-privateer ByKolles heeft echter het volste vertrouwen in Nissan. "We zijn in het verleden tegen meerdere tegenvallers en betrouwbaarheidsproblemen met de motor aangelopen, maar voor 2017 verwachten we een aanzienlijke verbetering wat betreft de betrouwbaarheid en de prestaties", aldus teammanager Boris Bermes.

"We werken ontzettend hard aan diverse verbeteringen voor onze auto. Door de veranderingen aan het reglement kunnen we voor 2017 grote verbeteringen doorvoeren aan zowel de voor- als de achterkant en met name de aerodynamica. Daarnaast zijn onze engineers erin geslaagd om het gewicht van de auto omlaag te krijgen en hebben ze meerdere mechanische onderdelen verbeterd. We kijken nu al uit naar de eerste tests met de geheel vernieuwde CLM P1/01."
