Ferrari onder de indruk van De Vries bij test

Nyck de Vries heeft bij een test op het circuit van Vallelunga indruk gemaakt op AF Corse, het GT-team van Ferrari in het World Endurance Championship. De 22-jarige Nederlander mocht samen met drie andere coureurs laten zien wat hij waard is in een Ferrari 488 GTE.

Miguel Molina, Alex Riberas en Alessandro Pier Guidi waren de overige rijders. Van dat viertal zijn Molina en De Vries overgebleven als kandidaten voor een stoeltje bij AF Corse voor komend seizoen. Vooral de leergierigheid van De Vries imponeerde Ferrari, zo vernam Autosport van bronnen.

Bij AF Corse komt een plekje vrij omdat Gianmaria Bruni het team waarschijnlijk gaat verlaten. De Italiaan is in bezit van een doorlopend contract, maar door een verschil van mening lijkt hij de overstap te maken naar Porsche. James Calado, Sam Bird en Davide Rigon zijn reeds bevestigd voor 2017 door AF Corse.
