Toyota presenteert nieuwe TS050 Hybrid

Toyota heeft de nieuwe LMP1-auto voor het komende World Endurance Championship-seizoen gepresenteerd. Het Japanse merk heeft volgens eigen zeggen elk onderdeel van de TS050 geüpdatet. Toyota is erop gebrand om dit jaar eindelijk de 24 uur van Le Mans te winnen.

De Japanse autofabrikant schrijft drie auto's in voor dat evenement. Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi en José María López besturen de wagen met startnummer 7, terwijl Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson en Kazuki Nakajima samen de honneurs waarnemen in de TS050 Hybrid met startnummer 8. Voor de 6 uur van Spa-Francorchamps en de 24 uur van Le Mans komt daar de auto met startnummer 9 - bemand door Stephane Sarrazin, Yuji Kunimoto en Nicolas Lapierre - bij.

Teambaas Toshio Sato: "Het hele team is gemotiveerd en vastberaden voor een succesvol seizoen. We willen winnen, daar mag geen twijfel over bestaan, maar we weten dat Porsche de huid duur zal verkopen. De teams in Higashi-Fuji en Keulen hebben hard gewerkt om de TS050 Hybrid te verbeteren en de eerste signalen zijn veelbelovend. We blijven de auto verder verfijnen zodat we straks klaar zijn voor de start van het nieuwe seizoen."
