Lucas di Grassi mag niet starten in Le Mans

Lucas di Grassi heeft een startverbod voor de 24 uur van Le Mans gekregen. De Braziliaan raakte vorige week geblesseerd bij een potje voetbal en kan daardoor nu niet binnen de vereiste tijd op eigen kracht uit een auto klimmen. Dat betekent dat hij niet mag racen.

Di Grassi liep bij een liefdadigheidswedstrijd op Stamford Bridge in Londen een gebroken kuitbeen op. Een operatie is nu noodzakelijk. "Een lastige beslissing, maar ik volg het advies van de artsen op." Afgelopen weekend racete hij nog wel in de Formule E in Berlijn.

Michele Rugolo neemt bij AF Corse zijn plaats in voor de 24 uur van Le Mans.

I'll sadly miss this year's #LeMans24 with a broken fibula that requires surgery. This was a hard decision but I'm following medical advise.
