Nick Catsburg in het WEC-programma van BMW

Nick Catsburg rijdt komend seizoen voor BMW in het World Endurance Championship. De Nederlander is een van de vier vaste coureurs voor het Duitse merk in het WEC. Of hij dit kan en gaat combineren met racen in de World Touring Car Cup voor Volvo is nog niet bekend.

De overige BMW-coureurs voor het WEC en de 24 uur van Le Mans zijn Antonio Felix da Costa, Augusto Farfus en Martin Tomczyk. Felix da Costa komt in de Formule E uit voor het door BMW geadopteerde MS&AD Andretti-team, Farfus is afkomstig uit de DTM en Tomczyk was afgelopen seizoen actief in het WeatherTech SportsCar-kampioenschap.

BMW keert in 2018 terug in het World Endurance Championship en de 24 uur van Le Mans. Met een nieuw ontwikkelde M8 GTE gaat de Duitse autofabrikant op jacht naar successen in de GT-klasses. Daar moeten Catsburg en zijn teamgenoten voor zorgen.

Lekker bezig Nicky. Wtcc gaat (denk ik) niet gebeuren, tenzij een ander team hem nog de kans geeft, want Volvo heeft pas heel laat tijd en geld in een TCR auto gestoken en de auto wordt niet voor eind 2018 op de circuits verwacht. Dus voor nu is een BMW factory drive een heel mooie prestatie.
