Lammers met Racing Team Nederland naar Le Mans

Jan Lammers zal met Racing Team Nederland voor de 24ste keer de 24 uur van Le Mans rijden, als teamgenoot van Frits van Eerd en Giedo van der Garde. Racing Team Nederland komt uit in het World Endurance Championship, waarvan de fameuze 24 uur van Le Mans onderdeel uitmaakt.

De 61-jarige Jan Lammers won de race in 1988 en met zijn 24ste deelname voegt hij zich bij een illuster gezelschap; slechts vijf coureurs kwamen vaker aan de start in de ruim 90-jarige historie van de 24 uur van Le Mans.

Frits van Eerd, initiatiefnemer en één van de coureurs van Racing Team Nederland: "Jan is een legende op Le Mans en vanaf het eerste uur betrokken bij Racing Team Nederland. Ik vind het dan ook geweldig dat hij dit jaar met ons voor de 24ste keer aan de start verschijnt in de 24 uur van Le Mans. Dat wordt een unieke mijlpaal!"

Jan Lammers: "Frits en Racing Team Nederland geven mij de kans om in juni voor de 24e keer mee te doen aan de 24 uur van Le Mans. Dat is fantastisch! Om optimaal voorbereid te zijn, rijd ik in mei samen met Frits en Giedo ook de 6 uur of Spa-Francorchamps; de openingsrace van het World Endurance Championship-seizoen."

"Frits is het aan zijn ambities verplicht om vervolgens de snelst mogelijke rijders naast zich te verzamelen. Ik mag dan misschien ‘voor mijn leeftijd’ nog snel zijn, maar als na Le Mans een snelle, jonge opvolger beschikbaar is, maak ik plaats in het belang van het team en de resultaten. Wellicht heb ik na Le Mans genoeg andere mogelijkheden om actief te blijven racen, en ik zal uiteraard nauw betrokken blijven bij de activiteiten van Racing Team Nederland."

Racing Team Nederland heeft een Dallara P217 ingeschreven in de LMP2-klasse van het World Endurance Championship. Het 'superseizoen' 2018/2019 telt acht races op zes circuits in zes landen in Europa, Azië en Amerika.

Wat een opmerking, alsof 61 tegenwoordig zo oud is... Lammers zal zelf niet eens instappen als hij niet meer snel genoeg zou zijn..

  Ben heel tevreden met mijn Max-pyjama en ook mijn Carlos-pyjama, maar zou die twee pyjama’s meteen ruilen voor een Jannema-pyjama ook al is die veel te klein.

  Ik vind het nog raarder dat iemand als frits van eerd mee mag doen, dat is ook gewoon maar een hobby coureur. ik zal eens een mailtje naar frits toe sturen, of ik lammers niet gewoon kan vervangen. ik ben wel een jonge opvolger, zoals jan zegt, maar of ik echt snel zou zijn betwijfel ik ;)

  @MADMAX33 In de LMP2 moet je een semi amateur coureur als één van de coureurs hebben. Alleen maar platinum coureurs is niet toegestaan...

  Er is idd nog ruimte voor gentlemen drivers of celebs die mee rijden in Lemans, het gaat vooral dan om bekende fransen beetje zoals in de Dakar raid.

  Bovendien, zolang Janneman nog trofeeën, awards en kunstzinnige beeldjes kan verzamelen, kan hij ook Le Mans rijden. ;)

Het is zo’n illuster gezelschap dat F1vandaag ff de vijf namen kwijt is...

  Nummertje 1 is in ieder geval Pescarolo met 33 waarvan 30 achter elkaar. wat dat betreft heeft Jan nog wel wat edities te gaan voor hij dat verbreekt. Gaat m niet lukken denk ik.
