De Vries opgenomen in line-up Racing Team Nederland

Racing Team Nederland heeft een vierde naam toegevoegd aan de line-up voor het debuutseizoen in het World Endurance Championship. De Nederlandse renstal doet namelijk alleen in de eerste twee evenementen van de nieuwe jaargang - 6 uur van Spa en 24 uur van Le Mans - een beroep op Jan Lammers. Voor de rest van het seizoen moest het team dus nog op zoek naar een derde rijder.

De keuze is gevallen op Nyck de Vries. Hij voegt zich na de 24 uur van Le Mans bij Frits van Eerd en Giedo van der Garde. De Vries combineert het WEC dit jaar met racen in de Formule 2. Die programma's sluiten goed op elkaar aan; de WEC-evenementen vallen niet samen met de races in het voorportaal van de Formule 1. De Vries maakt ook nog altijd onderdeel uit van de opleiding van Formule 1-team McLaren.
