Nyck de Vries debuteert voor Racing Team Nederland

Voor de Nyck de Vries heeft de zomerstop alweer lang genoeg geduurd. Volgende week gaat de Formule 2 weer verder op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps, maar eerst gaat de Nederlander zijn debuut maken in het World Endurance Championship. In de zes uur van Silverstone zal hij dit weekend rijden voor Racing Team Nederland.

Frits van Eerd en Giedo van der Garde worden zijn teamgenoten. De Vries kan niet wachten tot hij achter het stuur kan kruipen. "Ik heb er enorm veel zin in! Ik ben eerder dit jaar bij het team gaan kijken tijdens de races in Spa en Le Mans, maar nu pas begint het besef te komen dat het écht gaat gebeuren."

De Vries is al bekend met het circuit van Silverstone. "Het circuit van Silverstone ken ik goed en ik heb de auto tijdens de Jumbo Racedagen al even kort uit mogen proberen op het circuit van Zandvoort. Dat voelde meteen prima aan. Alles is natuurlijk nog nieuw voor mij, maar de sfeer in het team is in ieder geval super, want we kennen elkaar goed en we hebben allemaal hetzelfde doel."
