Lopez en Conway sneller dan Alonso en Nakajima in kwalificatie Silverstone

Jose Maria Lopez, Mike Conway en Kamui Kobayashi starten de 6 uur van Silverstone vanaf pole position. De gecombineerde rondetijd van Lopez en Conway in de #7 Toyota was ruim vier tienden sneller dan die van Fernando Alonso en Kazuki Nakajima in de #8. Alonso, Nakajima en Sebastien Buemi vangen de race vanaf plaats 2 aan.

Conway en Alonso reden de eerste runs van de kwalificatie en noteerden nagenoeg dezelfde rondetijd: Conway reed een 1:36.769, waarmee hij twee honderdsten sneller was dan Alonso. Het verschil werd gemaakt door Lopez, die 0,8 seconde sneller was dan Nakajima.

De derde startplaats op Silverstone is voor Jenson Button, Vitaly Petrov en Mikhail Aleshin, die met de #11 SMP Racing BR1 wel ruim twee seconden langzamer waren dan de #7 Toyota. Renger van der Zande vangt de race morgen als zevende aan: de #10 DragonSpeed BR1 was bijna vijf seconden langzamer dan Conway en Lopez.

Jazeman Jaafar, Nabil Jeffri en Weiron Tan starten met de #37 Jackie Chan DC Oreca vanaf de eerste plaats in de LMP2-categorie. In diezelfde categorie noteerden Frits van Eerd, Giedo van der Garde en Nyck de Vries de vijfde tijd namens Racing Team Nederland.
