24 uur van Le Mans: Racing Team Nederland kent valse start

Racing Team Nederland kende een valse start in de 24 uur van Le Mans. Dertig minuten na de start stuurde Giedo van de Garde opeens zijn LMP2-wagen in de pits. De temperatuur van zijn motor liep op raakte bijna overhit. De monteurs haalden de motorkap eraf. Ze vonden een probleem met de waterleiding. Eenmaal opgelost, werd snel koelingsvloeistof en water aangevuld en kon Van der Garde zijn weg vervolgen. Maar enkele ronden later kwam de Nederlander weer naar binnen. De monteurs herhaalden het riedeltje opnieuw door weer water en koelingsvloeistof bij te vullen. Het euvel was daarna verholpen, maar de achterstand op de rest van het veld was enorm. Op dit moment van schrijven, rijdt Racing Team Nederland op de twintigste plaats in hun klasse met een deelnemersveld van vierentwintig teams.

LMP1 / Algemeen klasssement
Toyota domineert en is op weg naar de derde Le Mans-zege op rij. Ondanks dat Rebellion de Toyota's splitste in de kwalificatie, moeten de Zwitsers veel toegeven op de Toyota's. Na een uur kwam er wel een pechduivel op één van de Japanse wagens. De nummer 8 wagen met Sebastian Buemi aan het stuur, kreeg last van een leeglopende band. Het team viel terug naar plaats vier overall, maar vocht zich snel terug naar plek twee. Op dit moment heeft de tweede wagen een achterstand van meer dan anderhalve minuut op de leidende zusterwagen. Dit is tevens het laatste jaar dat de hybride LMP1-wagens actief zijn op Le Mans. Volgend jaar komen hypercars. Een stuk goedkoper, maar ook om spanning terug te brengen aan de kop.

LMP2: stand van zaken Nederlanders
De beste geklasseerde Nederlander is Job van Uitert. Met zijn Britse team, United Autosports, rijdt hij in de algemene rangschikking op plaats zeven en derde in zijn serie. De pas 21-jarige coureur is de afgelopen jaren al actief geweest in verschillende endurance-klasses.
Naast Racing for Holland en Job van Uitert doen er nog veel meer Nederlanders mee. Beitske Visser schrijft historie door met een voltallige vrouwelijke rijdersbezetting mee te doen Dat is niet eerder gebeurd in de historie van Le Mans. Haar team, Richard Mille Racing Team, rijdt rond op de elfde positie in deze serie. Renger van der Zande, winnaar van de afgelopen Daytona 24-uurs race , rijdt op dit moment op plaats negen in deze klasse.

GTE Am: stand van zaken Nederlanders
In de GTE Am-klasse, zien we opnieuw Jeroen Bleekemolen, rijdend voor Team Project 1 met de Porsche. Vorig jaar kwam de 38-jarige coureur nog als eerste over de streep, maar werd naderhand door de wedstrijdleiding gediskwalificeerd. Op dit moment rijdt hij op de negentiende plek in een deelnemersveld van tweeëntwintig teams. Larry ten Voorde, kampioen van de Porsche Supercup, rijdt in de andere wagen van Team Project 1, ruim voor Jeroen Bleekemolen op plaats zes. Max van Splunteren, bekend van de Porsche Supercup, rijdt in deze klasse rond op positie elf met zijn Duitse team, Proton Competition.

  Niet geheel correct Racing for Holland is niet faiiliiet gegaan door A1GP.
  A1GP Nederland is wel failliet gegaan en wel in februari 2010.

Heel gaaf om te zien dat nr.50 in hun klasse, op dit moment, 8e is.
LMP1 hoeft voor mij niet inbeeld te komen. Dan denk ik met weemoed aan 40 jaar terug.. 🥺

Gister was een drama voor Jumbo zowel met de auto als op de fiets, hopelijk hebben Frits & Co vandaag het geluk wel aan hun kont hangen.
