Stoffel Vandoorne combineert Formule E met LMP2

Het team van JOTA heeft de bemanning voor een van de twee auto's voor het komende World Endurance Championship-seizoen bekendgemaakt. De renstal heeft ervoor gekozen om Stoffel Vandoorne, Sean Gelael en Tom Blomqvist aan elkaar te koppelen. JOTA is met de Oreca 07 Gibson actief in de LMP2-klasse in het WEC.

Vandoorne gaat zijn werkzaamheden voor JOTA combineren met racen in de Formule E, net als Blomqvist overigens. De Belg over zijn aanstelling bij JOTA: "Het is geweldig! JOTA is een gevestigde naam en een gerespecteerd team in een competitieve omgeving. Ik verheug me erop om daarbij betrokken te raken. Het is prettig om dat samen met Sean en Tom te doen, aangezien zij twee coureurs zijn waar ik mee bevriend ben."

De drie coureurs gaan ook namens JOTA in de Asian Le Mans Series rijden. Vandoorne en Gelael nemen de eerste twee 4 uurs-races op het Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi voor hun rekening, in het weekend van 5 en 6 februari. Blomqvist lost Vandoorne vervolgens af voor de volgende twee 4 uurs-races op dezelfde baan, in het weekend van 19 en 20 februari.
