Hoger, sterker en sneller. Echter, sommige deelnemers namen deze woorden wel erg letterlijk. Hieronder de zeer bekende beelden van een vliegende Mercedes op het Circuit de la Sarthe tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans in 1999. Het incident liep gelukkig af zonder ernstige gevolgen.

    Inderdaad, toen het ging, dacht ik gelijk aan Webber. En bevestiging ervan iets later.
    Wat een rol maakt dat ding zeg in de lucht. En op 'buik' terecht.

    Ik heb ergens nog een schaalmodel van dit ding (Mercedes CLK GTR), maar ik vrees dat die er inmiddels nog slechter aan toe is dan de #5 van Dumbreck uit het filmpje.

    1999 is in mijn herrinering de mooiste Le Mans editie die ik zelf heb gezien. Mercedes, Toyota, BMW, Cadillac, Panoz etc deden mee en uiteindelijk ging onverwacht de BMW-V12 er met de winst vandoor.
