Sterk startveld voor Le Mans: Recordaantal Hypercars en kansrijke Nederlanders

In juni wordt de legendarische 24 uur van Le Mans weer verreden in Frankrijk. Het belooft een speciale editie te worden en de deelnemerslijst is dan ook zeer sterk. Nog niet alles over de deelnemers was bekend, maar nu deze met de buitenwereld is gedeeld weet men meer.

De aanstaande editie van de 24 uur van Le Mans kent een ijzersterk Hypercar-veld. Tijdens de aanstaande 24 uur van Le Mans zullen er in totaal 16 Hypercars aan de start verschijnen. Toyota zet twee GR010's in en ook Ferrari, Peugeot en Porsche hebben twee wagens ingeschreven. Er verschijnen daarnaast nog twee Porsches aan de start. Eén van deze wagens wordt ingezet door Hertz Team Jota en de andere wagen staat op de deelnemerslijst als een extra wagen van het fabrieksteam afkomstig uit de IMSA.

Cadillac

Glickenhaus en Cadillac zetten tevens een extra wagen in. Glickenhaus had al eerder aangekondigd een tweede wagen in te willen zetten en dat is nu werkelijkheid geworden. De inschrijvingen van Cadillac zijn opvallend aangezien twee van de drie wagens afkomstig zijn uit het IMSA-kampioenschap. Het fabrieksteam van Cadillac schrijft een tweede wagen in met startnummer 3, onder andere Renger van der Zande zal deze wagen besturen. De derde Cadillac wordt ingezet door Action Express Racing.

Nederlanders

Naast Van der Zande staan er nog vier Nederlanders op de deelnemerslijst. In de LMP2-klasse staan nog drie landgenoten op de lijst. Voor het team van Prema zal Bent Viscaal in actie komen, hij deelt de wagen met Juan Manuel Correa en Filip Ugran. Het team van Panis kent een dubbele Nederlandse Oreca, Tijmen van der Helm en Job van Uitert delen hier de wagen met Manuel Maldonado. Nicky Catsburg rijdt in de LMGTE Am-klasse voor Corvette.

NASCAR

De 24 uur van Le Mans wordt dit jaar verreden op 10 en 11 juni. Voor het eerst sinds jaren neemt er ook weer een innovatieve wagen deel aan de race. Men kiest dit keer niet voor een wagen op bijzondere brandstof, maar voor een heuse NASCAR. Hendrick Motorsports zet namelijk een nieuwe Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in met Jimmie Johnson, Mike Rockenfeller en Jenson Button als coureurs.

  Gaaf, dit gaat wel ff very different cook worden dan de afgelopen saaie jaren waarin Toyota met 2 finger in die nase naar de overwinning kon cruisen.
