Van Uitert kijkt terug op hectische Le Mans: "Ik heb echt veel gereden"

De 24 uur van Le Mans was afgelopen weekend een groot spektakelstuk. Aan de race namen veel Nederlanders deel, waaronder ook Job van Uitert. Van Uitert maakte kans op een goed resultaat, maar problemen met de accu gooiden roet in het eten. Desalniettemin was de Nederlander tevreden met zijn eigen race.

Van Uitert nam deel in de LMP2-klasse en kwam daar uit voor het team van Panis Racing. De Nederlander deelde de auto met zijn landgenoot Tijmen van der Helm en Manuel Maldonado. Van Uitert reed een sterke race en zat zelf meer dan tien uur achter het stuur. De podiumplaatsen waren in zicht, maar problemen met de accu zorgden voor veel vertraging en uiteindelijk niet het gewenste resultaat.

Tevredenheid

Na lange reparatiewerkzaamheden kon het team van Panis Racing hun weg weer vervolgen. Van Uitert keek na afloop terug op de race in een persbericht: “De honderdste verjaardag van Le Mans! Om het samen te vatten: ik ben kapot! Ik heb veel gereden, echt heel veel gereden. De auto was op zich best goed tijdens deze wedstrijd. Ik heb de snelste gemiddelde stinttijd van alle LMP2-rijders gereden, ondanks dat we niet over de snelste auto beschikten. Ik ben daar bijzonder tevreden mee.”

Veel geleerd

De race verliep zeer hectisch en dat zorgde voor veel spektakel en hectiek. Van Uitert probeerde het hoofd koel te houden en leek op weg naar een goed resultaat. Dat ging uiteindelijk niet door vanwege de accuproblemen: “Dit was een bijzonder hectische race, waarvan ik veel heb geleerd. De start was heel erg goed: ik wist zes man in te halen in de eerste paar bochten. Van mijn eerste stint heb ik genoten. We wonnen een aantal plekken en konden ons mengen in de strijd voor de voorste plaatsen.”
