McLaren kondigt opvallend LMGT3-programma aan

Het startveld voor het vernieuwde startveld voor het World Endurance Championship in 2024 begint steeds meer vorm te krijgen. Volgend seizoen verdwijnen de LMP2-bolides, wordt het Hypercar-veld groter en wordt de LMGT3-klasse geïntroduceerd. McLaren gaat in die laatste klasse deelnemen met een opvallende partner.

In de nieuwe GT-klasse zullen veel fabrikanten met opvallende bolides aan de start gaan verschijnen. Het was al eventjes bekend dat McLaren graag wilde deelnemen aan het WEC. Nu hebben ze besloten om dit daadwerkelijk te gaan doen met hun LMGT3-bolide. Deze wagen zal worden ingezet door het team van United Autosports. Dit is geen vreemde keuze aangezien McLaren CEO Zak Brown ook een vinger in de pap heeft bij United.
