Van der Garde tevreden met verloop eerste testdag

Giedo van der Garde heeft een nuttige en productieve eerste testdag van deze week op het circuit van Barcelona achter de rug. In de ochtendsessie zette de coureur van P1 Motorsport de snelste tijd neer, s middags simuleerde de Nederlander een race-afstand en dat verliep naar wens. Het betekende wel dat Marco Bonanomi de eerste plek kon overnemen met een 1:33.478.

Dit was een prima dag, vertelt Van der Garde op zijn website. In de ochtend reed ik op nieuwe banden de snelste tijd van het veld en dat was natuurlijk leuk. s Middags was de baan echter een stuk sneller, maar hebben we besloten om geen nieuwe banden te monteren en dus een setje te bewaren voor later deze week. Op oude banden hebben we een race-simulatie gedaan en dat liep prima.

Het is leuk om in de ochtend de snelste te zijn, maar erg belangrijk is dat niet. Daarom hebben we ons daar s middags ook niet echt mee bezig gehouden. Het is veel belangrijker om tijdens het testen antwoorden te krijgen op je vragen en door een race te simuleren krijg je die ook. Tot nu toe verloopt de test erg goed en vandaag gaan we dan ook gewoon verder waar we gebleven zijn.

De World Series by Renault-coureurs testen vandaag en morgen nog op het Circuit de Catalunya.
