Van der Garde doet vooraan mee in Barcelona

Giedo van der Garde is bezig aan een uiterst sterke laatste testweek ter voorbereiding op het nieuwe World Series by Renault-seizoen. Op het circuit van Barcelona reed hij op de eerste dag al de snelste tijd in de ochtendsessie en dat deed hij gisteren weer. De Nederlandse coureur van P1 Motorsport was ook in de middag snel en sloot dag twee als tweede af. Alleen Fabio Carbone was twee tienden sneller.

Het gaat echt lekker, vertelt Van der Garde op zijn website. In de ochtend was het lange tijd nog regenachtig, waardoor de baan nat was, maar toen het opdroogde zetten we de snelste tijd neer. In de middagsessie zijn we gewoon verder gaan testen en bleef het gelukkig droog. We stonden erg lang op de eerste plaats, maar uiteindelijk reden we dan de tweede tijd van de dag. Maakt niet uit, we hebben laten zien dat we erg snel zijn, zeker op oude banden. Als we op nieuwe banden nog even wat extras kunnen vinden, zijn we helemaal blij. Ik heb erg veel zin om vandaag verder te testen en ik hoop dat het droog blijft, al is dat niet voorspeld. We zien het wel. Het is ook niet verkeerd om even in de regen te rijden.
