Van der Garde gaat voor winst op Silverstone

Giedo van de Garde gaat fier aan kop in de tussenstand om het World Series by Renault-kampioenschap. Komend weekend is de volgende ronde op het circuit van Silverstone. Van der Garde heeft maar één doel voor de races op de voormalige vliegbasis en dat is winnen.

Ik zit al een tijdje in Engeland, vertelt de Nederlander. "En dat heeft me in de gelegenheid gesteld om het team te bezoeken, maar ook ben ik even bij McLaren op bezoek geweest. Verder hebben we ons op de gebruikelijke wijze voorbereid op de races van komend weekend. Silverstone staat voor het eerst op de kalender, dus voor ieder team is het nieuw. We hebben echter genoeg tijd op de baan om te wennen, dus dat komt helemaal goed.

Mijn doel voor dit weekend is het behalen van de pole-position in de kwalificatie, om vervolgens in de eerste race zoveel mogelijk punten te scoren en de tweede race dan te winnen. In het kampioenschap staan we er erg goed voor en dat moet je gedurende het weekend ook in je hoofd houden. Ik moet dus geen rare sprongen maken, gewoon normaal doen en dan heb ik er alle vertrouwen in dat het onze kant opkomt.
