Guillaume Moreau stopt met World Series

Guillaume Moreau heeft vandaag bekend gemaakt dat hij stopt met zijn seizoen in de Renault World Series voor het KTR-team. Hij heeft deze beslissing zelf genomen. Na een dubbele nulscore op de Hungaroring is de 25-jarige Fransman zo goed als uitgeschakeld in de titelstrijd en wenst zich te gaan concentreren op zijn deelname aan de Le Mans Series. Moreau bestuurt samen met Patrice Goueslard een Chevrolet Corvette en gaat aan de leiding in de GT1-klasse. Om die reden vindt hij dat het geen zin meer heeft om nog deel te nemen aan de World Series, omdat hij geen veldvulling wil zijn.

Moreau: "Mijn doel voor dit jaar was om voor de titel te vechten. Gezien mijn huidige achterstand op de helft van het seizoen is dat niet realistisch meer. Het team is teleurgesteld net als ik, maar ik moet deze beslissing nemen. We hebben de 2008-auto nooit op snelheid kunnen krijgen."

Hoewel Moreau aangeeft zich voorlopig op de LMS te richten, schrijft hij de formulewagens niet helemaal af. "Ik ga me concentreren op de Le Mans Series om daar de GT1-titel binnen te halen. We hebben nog twee races om dat voor elkaar te krijgen. Maar als ik een goed aanbod krijg voor een stoeltje in de World Series, GP2 of waar dan ook, zal ik mijn kans zeker grijpen."
