Van der Garde wil meer successen in tweede seizoenshelft

Giedo van der Garde bezet halverwege het World Series by Renault-kampioenschap de eerste plek in de titelstrijd en de Nederlander is niet van plan om te verslappen. Sterker nog, hij wil samen met zijn team proberen om de dominante vorm van het eerste raceweekend te hervinden.

Van der Garde over zijn plannen voor de resterende races: Meer van hetzelfde, eigenlijk. We gaan voor de race op de Nürburgring nog testen en dat wordt een zeer belangrijke test. Aan het begin van het seizoen liep het fantastisch, maar die absolute overmacht is wat minder geworden.

Dat komt door de nieuwe banden die op het circuit van Silverstone zijn geïntroduceerd. Daar was de auto niet helemaal perfect op berekend en daardoor werd het ietsje minder. We werken er hard aan, de auto wordt helemaal nagekeken en er komen wat nieuwe onderdelen op. Met deze test willen we het eerdere voordeel terugpakken.

Waar de Nederlander volgend jaar rijdt, kan hij nog niet zeggen. Ik weet wat ik wil, maar ik kan nog niet zeggen wat het gaat worden. We zijn druk in gesprek, de contacten verlopen goed en hopelijk kan ik er snel meer over kwijt.
