Giedo van der Garde is zijn weekeinde op de Nurburgring uitstekend begonnen. De Nederlander heeft de snelste tijd gerealiseerd tijdens de vrije trainingen van de Renault World Series op de Nurburgring. In de ochtend was het titelconcurrent Julien Jousse die de tweede tijd reed, maar het gat was al een gigantische zeven tienden van een seconde. 's Middags was de eer van de tweede plek voor de Argentijn Esteban Guerrieri.

Julien Jousse: "De ochtend ging best goed, al heeft Giedo een erg grote voorsprong. Ik had gisteren een probleem met de startmotor en vandaag spinde ik in bocht vijf wat niet goed was voor mijn banden. Ik hoop een goede stap te maken in het kampioenschap dit weekeinde."

Miguel Molina, de snelste man uit de collectieve test van woensdag, behoudt zijn sterke vorm en is derde in de ochtend. 's Middags zakt hij terug tot de zesde plaats. Vandaag was er wisselend succes voor Salvador Duran. De Mexicaan reed 's morgens slechts vier ronden. Later was het definitief voorbij dankzij terugschakelproblemen.
