Stewards ontnemen Fauzy podiumplaats

De stewards van de Renault World Series op de Nurburgring hebben gisteren besloten Fairuz Fauzy uit de uitslag te schrappen. Tijdens de technische controle na de race bleek de achterkant van de auto niet conform de reglementen. De stewards bevestigden dat het team geen voordeel heeft gehad van de situatie, zodat Fauzy gewoon als achtste van start mag in de hoofdrace van vanmiddag.

Fortec-teambaas Peter Crolla: ""We hebben het niet expres gedaan en we hebben er ook geen voordeel van gehad. We zijn zwaar getroffen door deze beslissing doordat dit een fantastisch resultaat zou zijn geweest voor Fairuz."

Het is overigens niet de enige coureur die is bestraft na de World Series-race. Esteban Guerrieri haalde Salvador Duran in door de Veedol Chicane af te snijden. De Argentijn werd daarvoor bestraft met 25 strafseconden. Guerrieri valt daardoor terug van de vierde naar de twaalfde plaats.
