Van der Garde in beeld bij twee GP2-teams

Giedo van der Garde is in vergevorderde onderhandelingen met GP2-team iSport International, zo bericht Autosprint. Het gaat eerst om een plek in de winterserie GP2 Asia, maar het zou ook kunnen leiden tot een stoeltje voor het Europese GP2-seizoen 2009.

Van der Garde is momenteel actief in de World Series by Renault en heeft daarin de eerste plek in het kampioenschap soeverein in handen. Naast iSport International zou ook ART Grand Prix interesse in de coureur uit Veenendaal hebben. Het enige probleem vormt de eerste test voor de Asia Series. Die valt samen met het laatste weekend in de World Series by Renault. Van der Garde kan zijn titel echter al eerder veiligstellen, waardoor hij de laatste races zou kunnen laten schieten mits zijn team P1 Motorsport een geschikte vervanger vindt.
