Sirotkin en Merhi boeken hun eerste zege

Sergey Sirotkin heeft voor eigen publiek geëxcelleerd. In de eerste race van het World Series by Renault-weekend op de Moscow Raceway verzilverde de Rus zijn pole position. Zoel Amberg en Pietro Fantin vergezelden hem op het podium.

Het was de eerste zege van Sirotkin in de World Series by Renault. Een dag later deed Roberto Merhi hem dat na. Merhi vertrok net als Sirotkin vanaf de eerste plek en stond die koppositie niet meer af. Pierre Gasly en Richie Stanaway completeerden de top drie.

Kampioenschapleider Carlos Sainz junior hield maar acht puntjes over aan het weekend in Moskou. De Spanjaard kreeg bovendien de schuld voor een botsing met Oliver Rowland. Meindert van Buuren en Beitske Visser kwamen in Rusland niet in het stuk voor.

Lekker voor Sirotkin, dat had hij wel een keer nodig!

Rowland is hem als rookie eigenlijk het hele seizoen al de baas. Wel spannend in het kampioenschap, want alle titelkandidaten hebben nogal liggen knoeien dit weekend.
