Topteam ISR maakt werk van aantrekken van Robin Frijns

ISR-teambaas Igor Salaquarda is vastberaden om Robin Frijns naar de World Series by Renault te halen. De Nederlandse coureur was de afgelopen twee jaar succesvol met titels in de Formule BMW en de Formule Renault Eurocup. Frijns testte deze week voor het eerst met een World Series by Renault-auto voor ISR en dat is het Tsjechische topteam bevallen.

Salaquarda: Robin gaat in de toekomst heel snel zijn, dat staat vast. Hij was een beetje ongelukkig in de test. Hij is rap op gebruikte banden en voelt de auto goed aan, maar op vers rubber haalt hij nog niet het maximale uit de potentie. Bovendien had hij pijn in zijn nek. Ik kan me voorstellen dat Robin volgend jaar voor ons racet en ik wil hem dan koppelen aan een ervaren coureur.

Frijns: De prijs van 500.000 euro voor mijn titel in de Formule Renault Eurocup komt goed van pas. Maar ik heb nog steeds meer geld nodig voor 2012. Daar werken we aan. Het doel van de test was om vertrouwen op te bouwen, bekend te raken met deze auto. De wagen is fysiek veeleisender dan ik gewend was, maar gedurende de dag ging het steeds beter en dit hoort bij de leercurve.
