Frijns bombardeert Magnussen en Da Costa tot titelfavorieten

Kevin Magnussen en Antonio Felix da Costa zijn de belangrijkste gegadigden voor de titel in de Formule Renault 3.5 in de World Series by Renault voor 2013. Dat stelt uittredend kampioen Robin Frijns tegenover Autosport. De 21-jarige Nederlander laat alvast zijn licht schijnen op de kanshebbers om in zijn voetsporen te treden.

Frijns: "Magnussen en Da Costa zijn voor mij de grote favorieten. Zij waren afgelopen seizoen al continu vooraan te vinden en zijn allebei erg snel. De snelheid van Kevin is indrukwekkend. En hij gaat altijd voor de winst. Hij heeft het in zich om races te domineren. Voor Antonio geldt eigenlijk hetzelfde. Hij heeft eind vorig jaar veel wedstrijden op zijn naam geschreven. Ik denk dat in 2013 minder coureurs meedingen naar de titel dan vorig seizoen, maar degenen aan het front zullen een mooie strijd uitvechten en dat is goed voor het kampioenschap."

"Ik ken Kevin niet zo goed, maar van wat ik van hem gezien heb neemt hij af en toe misschien iets te veel risico. Je kan geen titels pakken met een alles-of-niets aanpak. Soms moet je ook genoegen nemen met een tweede, derde of zelfs zesde plek. De tijd zal uitwijzen of hij dat geleerd heeft. Hetzelfde is van toepassing op Da Costa. Hij stond eind vorig seizoen niet onder dezelfde druk als de titelkandidaten en kon vrijuit racen. Dat resulteerde in veel zeges. Hij is enorm snel, maar zodra het kampioenschap op het spel staat is het gedaan met die onbevangenheid."
