Vandoorne herovert koppositie met dubbele winst in Moskou

Stoffel Vandoorne is weer de leider in de tussenstand om de titel in de Formule Renault 3.5 van de World Series by Renault. De Belg van Fortec Motorsport beleefde in Moskou een perfect weekend. Hij schreef beide races op zijn naam en verzamelde zo vijftig punten.

Kevin Magnussen zag zijn voorsprong daardoor als sneeuw voor de zon verdwijnen. De Deen zette er alleen een tweede plek in race 2 tegenover en verloor zodoende zijn koppositie. Vandoorne heeft nu 136 punten, Magnussen staat op 133 punten. Daarna valt een groot gat.

Antonio Felix da Costa heerste eind vorig seizoen in de World Series by Renault, maar kan nu niet mee in het geweld van Vandoorne en Magnussen. De Portugees behaalde in 2013 pas één overwinning en heeft een aanzienlijke achterstand, die 57 punten bedraagt.

Voor Nigel Melker was het een weekend met twee gezichten. Hij sleepte in de eerste wedstrijd zijn tweede podiumplek van dit seizoen in de wacht, opnieuw derde, maar pakte in race 2 geen punten. Hij bezet nog steeds de zesde plek, met 64 punten.
