Van Lagen aan de kant gezet, Buurman mag invallen

Jaap van Lagen is door zijn team Comtec aan de kant geschoven. De verhalen over een breuk tussen de twee gingen al langer, maar het team heeft nu ook officieel een vervanger voor de race van komend weekend op de Nürburgring aangewezen. De Belg Michael Herck neemt de plaats van Van Lagen in.

Waar de ene Nederlander wordt vervanger is bij een ander team een andere landgenoot zelf de vervanger. Yelmer Buurman vervangt in Duitsland Richard Philippe bij het team van Fortec. De Fransman kampt nog met de naweeën van een gebroken hand. Buurman rijdt normaal gesproken in de Formule 3 Euroseries, maar laat deze kans om in de World Series by Renault te racen niet lopen.

Buurman: Vanochtend reed ik voor het eerst met die auto en die is wel heel anders dan wat ik gewend ben. Ik heb gelukkig een goede engineer en een goede teamgenoot waarbij ik wat kan afkijken. Ik hoop in de tweede race van het weekend mee te kunnen met de echt snelle jongens.
