WTCC-toppers verbinden zich aan nieuwe WTCR

De nieuwe World Touring Car Cup krijgt een startveld met allure. De WTCR, voortgekomen uit een fusie tussen het World Touring Car Championship en de TCR International Series, heeft vandaag weer vier namen voor het seizoen 2018 bekendgemaakt. Het zijn stuk voor stuk illustere namen.

WTCC-kampioen Thed Björk vormt dit jaar bijvoorbeeld een duo met meervoudig WTCC-kampioen Yvan Müller. Deze twee toppers zullen namens Yvan Müller Racing ieder een Hyundai i30 N TCR gaan besturen. Het team is momenteel in afwachting van de levering van de bolides.

Ook Esteban Guerrieri en Tiago Monteiro hebben zich verzekerd van een plek op de WTCR-grid. Deze twee WTCC-racewinnaars krijgen in 2018 een Honda Civic TCR tot hun beschikking. Guerrieri komt uit voor Münnich Motorsport, Monteiro heeft zich verbonden aan Boutsen Ginion Racing.

Tom Coronel zou ook op het punt staan om bij Boutsen Ginion Racing te tekenen.
