Audi met zes RS 3 LMS-auto's in nieuwe WTCR

Audi brengt zes RS 3 LMS-auto's aan de start in de nieuwe World Touring Car Cup, voortgekomen uit een fusie tussen het World Touring Car Championship en de TCR International Series. Het Duitse merk stelt vier wagens beschikbaar voor Comtoyou Racing en twee exemplaren van de RS 3 LMS zijn bestemd voor Team WRT.

De coureurs zijn ook al bekend. Comtoyou Racing doet een beroep op Frederic Vervisch, Aurelien Panis, Denis Dupont en Nathanael Berthon. Team WRT reserveert de stoeltjes voor Gordon Shedden en Jean-Karl Vernay.

Chris Reinke van Audi: "We kijken uit naar de sterke competitie in de nieuwe serie, die een attractief platform voor autofabrikanten in de toerwagen-racerij biedt. Onze teams en coureurs voorzien ons van waardevolle ervaring, zowel in de toerwagens als in andere disciplines. Het doel is om komend seizoen voor het kampioenschap te gaan, zowel bij de rijders als bij de teams."
