Organisatie schrapt de negende etappe

De negende etappe van Dakar 2017 is geannuleerd door de organisatie. Door een aardverschuiving was een deel van de verbindingsroute tussen de finish van de achtste etappe en het bivak in Salta onbegaanbaar. Daardoor kon een deel van het deelnemersveld het bivak niet bereiken.

Om orde in de chaos te scheppen heeft de organisatie besloten om de etappe van woensdag te schrappen. Op het programma stond de zogenaamde 'Super Belen'-proef, één van de hoogtepunten van de tweede Dakar-week met een totale lengte van 977 kilometer, waarvan 406 kilometer tegen de klok.

Het zit de organisatie van Dakar niet mee met het weer dit jaar. Het is namelijk niet de eerste etappe die niet door kan gaan. Door de hevige regenval in Bolivia was de zesde etappe ook al afgelast. Daarnaast heeft de organisatie al een paar keer de route in moeten korten omdat het beoogde parkoers onbegaanbaar was.

Inderdaad. Ik heb het genoegen gehad met Hubert Auriol door Algerije te rijden op de motor als verkennuíng voor de Heroes Legend, echter dat is toen door een bomaanslag twee weken later weer verpest...

    Voor een deel te wijten aan de elementen, maar met de ervaringen van vorig jaar was het parcours misschien toch iets te ambitieus?

    Wel jammer.... Het had één van de zwaarste Dakars moeten worden op Zuid-Amerikaanse bodem.... Wat verlang ik toch weer terug naar de "echte" Dakar in Afrika, maarja dat zal voorlopig niet meer gebeuren...... :(

      Ik vind het landschap uitermate geschikt voor de rally en daar zit het probleem niet, ik vind zelfs die hoogtes ook een geweldige uitdaging voor de rally. Maar ik vind vooral het tijdstip om te janken, of ik vergeet het omdat ik iets anders aan het kijken ben of sluit gewoon de luiken.

    Jammer, maar ik denk dat ze serieus moeten kijken naar dit. Want vorig jaar was ook met de nodige problemen. De dakar moet zwaar zijn, maar niet onmogelijk.

      Vorig jaar was toch de kritiek dat het meer rallyproeven leken dan op Dakar etappes? Vandaar dat deze editie zwaarder werd. En als ik de beelden zie is het toch echt de regen die de grote spelbreker is.

      Ja die kritiek was er ook. En de etappes zijn opzich veel beter, maar toen was er ook de nodige problemen met het weer. Weet je nog?
