Derde plek genoeg voor tweede titel Ekstrom

Mattias Ekstrom is voor de tweede maal kampioen in de DTM geworden. De Zweed had bij de seizoensfinale op de Hockenheimring genoeg aan een derde plek om concurrenten Martin Tomczyk en Bruno Spengler voor te blijven in de stand. Ekstrom behaalde zodoende zijn tweede DTM-titel voor Audi.

Tomczyk was na een paar bochten al uitgeschakeld. Nota bene zijn merkgenoot Timo Scheider knalde tegen de Duitser en die moest met een zwaar beschadigde Audi terug naar de pits. Tomczyk vocht zich nog knap terug, maar verder dan een negende plek kwam hij niet.

Mercedes-rijder Bruno Spengler kwam nog wel in de buurt, maar mocht nooit aan de titel ruiken. De Canadees moest twee punten goedmaken op Ekstrom, maar reed geen moment voor de Zweed. De race werd gewonnen door Jamie Green. De coureur van Mercedes had ook al de winst in de vorige race gepakt.
