Vermeulen in actie op Nürburgring: ''Ik heb zin om weer in de auto te stappen''

Thierry Vermeulen, racet zaterdag -en zondagmiddag in de DTM op de Nürburgring. De door Verstappen.com gesteunde debutant heeft veel zin in de vierde ronde van het kampioenschap. Vermeulen is de zoon van Max Verstappens manager, Raymond Vermeulen en kijkt uit wat komen gaat.

''Ik heb zin om na een paar vrije dagen weer in de auto te stappen. Het wordt de eerste keer dat ik hier met een 296 rijd, dus het wordt interessant om te zien wat we als team kunnen doen'', zegt de Nederlander op Verstappen.com.

Het weekend ziet er volgens Vermeulen anders uit dan normaal. Behalve het schema wordt er ook nat weer voorspeld. Voor de jongeling een nieuwe ervaring waar hij wel iets mee kan.
''Er is geen test op donderdag, wat betekent dat de vrije training op vrijdag begon. Het weer ziet er wisselvallig uit en dat zou goed voor ons kunnen zijn. We hebben dit jaar nog geen regenraces gehad en ik denk dat we ook in de regen behoorlijk competitief kunnen zijn.”

''De andere teams hebben hier vorige week al een race gehad, dus we konden de competitiviteit van de Ferrari zien en na een paar kleine BOP-wijzigingen denk ik dat we competitief moeten kunnen zijn. We verlieten de GT World Challenge in Misano met een positief gevoel en ik hoop dit door te trekken naar de DTM.”

Vermeulen bestuurt een Ferrari 296 GT3 van Emil Frey Racing en heeft tot dusver geen punt gescoord.
