Ralf Schumacher en Klien maken zich op voor test bij Mercedes

Nu de Formule 1 niet meer tot de mogelijkheden behoort richten Ralf Schumacher en Christian Klien (foto) zich tot de DTM. Het tweetal gaat volgens berichten in de Oostenrijkse media deze week testen in een DTM-auto van Mercedes. Het verhaal gaat dat Schumacher en Klien dinsdag en woensdag in actie komen op het circuit van Estoril.

Mercedes en de organisatie van de DTM zijn sinds het vertrek van Mika Hakkinen op zoek naar een nieuwe grote naam. Ralf Schumacher werd eind vorig seizoen bedankt voor zijn diensten bij Toyota en kon geen plek in de Formule 1 afdwingen. Hij overweegt, ondanks het advies van broer Michael om niet voor de DTM te kiezen, serieus een overstap naar de toerwagenklasse te maken. Klien was in 2007 testrijder bij Honda en hoopte nu op een racezitje bij Force India, maar teameigenaar Vijah Mallya koos voor de ervaring van Giancarlo Fisichella.
