Di Resta krijgt plek in fabrieksteam van Mercedes

Paul di Resta bestuurt dit jaar één van de vier 2008-autos van Mercedes. De Schot kende vorig jaar een sensationeel debuutseizoen in een oude auto en is gepromoveerd naar het fabrieksteam HWA. In 2007 belandde hij vier maal op het podium en eindigde uiteindelijk als vijfde in het kampioenschap.

Gerhard Ungar, technisch directeur van HWA, denkt dat Di Resta een toekomstig kampioen is, maar wil tegelijkertijd niet te veel druk op de 21-jarige coureur leggen. Dit wordt opnieuw een leerjaar voor hem. We hebben voor 2008 nog geen grote plannen met Paul, omdat we de verwachtingen niet te hoog willen laten oplopen. Hij kan zeker races winnen dit jaar, maar belangrijker is dat hij ervaring opdoet bij het team. In de toekomst kan hij zeker die titel voor zich opeisen.
