David Coulthard dicht bij contract bij Mercedes voor 2010

David Coulthard is naar eigen zeggen erg dicht bij een contract met Mercedes in de DTM. De Schot test deze week in Valencia met Mercedes en liet gisteren al erg indrukwekkende tijden noteren.

Coulthard hing eind 2008 zijn helm aan de wilgen en stapte uit de Formule 1. Afgelopen jaar moest Coulthard vanaf de zijlijn als commentator van de BBC toekijken, maar de Schot wil dit seizoen weer gaan racen. "Voor mij is een handdruk genoeg om de deal te beklinken", was Coulthard hoopvol over een DTM-stoeltje bij Mercedes in 2010.

"Het enige dat we nog hoeven te doen is met Norbert Haug om de tafel te gaan zitten. Misschien dat ik in Australië daar de kans toe krijg en anders is het zeker voor de seizoensopener in Hockenheim eind april."

De DTM-coureurs zullen nog tot en met zaterdag testen in Valencia als voorbereiding op het nieuwe seizoen.
