Rockenfeller start tweede DTM-race vanaf pole

Mike Rockenfeller start de tweede DTM-race van het weekend op de Hockenheimring vanaf pole position. De Duitser reed op een opdrogende baan naar de snelste tijd, voor Audi-collega's Miguel Molina en Mattias Ekstrom.

De rijders begonnen de sessie op de regenbanden, maar al snel bleken de condities dusdanig goed dat er slicks gemonteerd konden worden. Het was stijvertje wisselen aan de kop van het veld, met uiteindelijk de kampioen van 2013 als winnaar. De winnaar van de race op zaterdag, Jamie Green, start de race slechts als zeventiende.

Straffen waren er voor Gary Paffet en Adrien Tambay, omdat hun achtervleugels niet voldeden aan de reglementen. Paffet had zich eigenlijk gekwalificeerd als achtste, terwijl Tambay de elfde tijd had genoteerd. Het duo zal de race nu vanaf de laatste startrij aanvangen.
