Giovinazzi in plaats van Scheider bij Audi

Antonio Giovinazzi maakt dit weekend in Moskou zijn debuut in de DTM. De Italiaan, leider in de tussenstand om het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap, stapt bij Audi in als vervanger van de geschorste Timo Scheider. Giovinazzi heeft in de winter reeds getest met de Audi RS 5 DTM.

Scheider is geschorst omdat hij in Oostenrijk in opdracht van de teamleiding twee deelnemers van concurrent Mercedes van de baan kegelde. Motorsportbaas Wolfgang Ulrich mag zich het hele seizoen niet meer in de pits vertonen. Audi kreeg bovendien een boete van 200.000 euro opgelegd.
