Jamie Green wint voor derde maal op rij op Norisring

Jamie Green heeft vanmiddag voor het derde jaar op rij de DTM-race op de Norisring op zijn naam geschreven. De Britse Mercedes-coureur bleef in de laatste ronden de Audi van Mattias Ekstrom slechts enkele tienden voor.

Ralf Schumacher, die gisteren zijn eerste pole position in zijn DTM-carriére haalde, zag een goed resultaat al meteen bij de start in rook opgaan. De Duitser maakte een valse start en werd daarvoor bestraft met een drive trough-penalty. Hierdoor kon Green de leiding overnemen en liep hij weg van Bruno Spengler op de tweede plaats.

Bij de tweede serie pitstops kwam Mattias Ekstrom voorbij aan Spengler en begon zijn jacht op leider Green. De Zweed kwam tot op enkele tienden van Green, maar eindigde uiteindelijk 0.591 seconden achter de Mercedes-coureur. Spengler kwam op het einde van de race weer dichterbij aan de leiders, maar eindigde uiteindelijk op twee seconden achterstand als derde.

Oliver Jarvis reed een sterke race en pakte met de vierde plaats aan de finish zijn eerste punten van het seizoen, gevolgd door Timo Scheider. De Duitse regerend kampioen ging bij de laatste pitstops voorbij aan Gary Paffett die als zesde over de streep kwam. Alexandre Premat en Martin Tomczyk pakten de laatste punten. David Coulthard reed het grootste gedeelte van de race zonder deur, nadat deze uit van Mercedes was gevallen bij een touché.
