Timo Scheider op pole position na natte kwalificatie

Timo Scheider heeft vanmiddag de pole position gepakt voor zijn thuisrace in Hockenheim. De Duitser bleef Audi-teamgenoot Mike Rockenfeller voor, die hiermee voor het eerst in twee jaar tijd weer op de eerste startrij staat.

Scheider reed als eerste de baan op in Q4, het beslissende kwalificatiedeel. Zijn tijd bleek uiteindelijk te snel voor Rockenfeller, die wel een keurige tweede startplaats pakte. Gary Paffett was de snelste Mercedes-coureur op de derde positie, gevolgd door Alexandre Premat die overigens een slordige ronde reed in Q4.

Paul di Resta, nog altijd in de strijd om de titel, eindigde de kwalificatie als vijfde. Zijn titelrivaal Bruno Spengler deed het een stuk slechter en start de race als elfde. Mattias Ekstrom, die theoretisch nog een kans maakt op de titel, eindigde slechts als vijftiende, nadat David Coulthard hem uit Q2 drukte.
