DTM dichtbij akkoord met Japanse Super GT

Het DTM-kampioenschap lijkt dichtbij een akkoord om de reglementen van het Japanse Super GT-kampioenschap over te nemen. Mocht het tot een akkoord komen, dan ziet de toekomst van de Duitse raceklasse er een stuk zonniger uit. Mercedes keert de DTM aan het einde van dit seizoen de rug toe, terwijl ook BMW aan heeft gegeven nog niet zeker te zijn van deelname na 2018.

Wanneer de DTM onder de reglementen van de Japanse Super GT gaat opereren betekent dit concreet dat het gemakkelijker wordt voor nieuwkomers om te treden, maar ook om races met auto's uit zowel de DTM en de Japanse Super GT te organiseren. De organisatie van DTM voert al enige jaren gesprekken met de organisatie van de Super GT, maar na de aankondiging van het vertrek van Mercedes werden de gesprekken stop gezet.

Inmiddels zijn de gesprekken weer opgestart en lijkt een akkoord aanstaande te zijn. Gerhard Berger, voorzitter van de organisatie achter de DTM, is positief gestemd dat de deal er komt. Wanneer de overeenkomst rond is, is het aanblijven van BMW in de klasse ook een stuk zekerder. BMW liet eerder weten eerst zekerheid te willen over de koers van de DTM voordat het een beslissing neemt.

Wanneer de implementatie van de reglementen niet rond is voor de start van het nieuwe seizoen in 2019 dan bestaat de kans dat BMW en Audi de enige fabrikanten zullen zijn in 2019 en dat vanaf 2020 nieuwe constructeurs en teams kunnen instromen.

Dat hebben Berger & co goed geregeld, een dikke boost voor het kampioenschap. Hopelijk volgt hij die Kabouter op als baas van de FIA, dat imago kan ook wel een boost gebruiken.

Een compromis om het Class One Championship op te richten. Afgelopen jaar zijn er al diverse demonstraties van beide kanten voorafgaande aan de races geweest.

Ik ben persoonlijk positief, al ben ik wel van mening dat DTM de Super GT harder nodig heeft dan andersom. Toch is het geweldig om op de zondagmorgen (Fuji race uitgezonderd) via Nismo TV het Youtube kanaal te luisteren naar het deskundige commentaar van Sam Collins.

Yupz, Sam Collins, erg bekend bij de Fans van Max Verstappen..... Hij geeft zeer deskundig commentaar en heeft een frisse leuke kijk op het racen. Deze klasse heeft overigens een aantal absolute toppers in de gelederen. Jenson Button, Nick Cassidy, James Rossiter, Heikki Kovelainen en een van de beste coureurs aller tijden die nooit Formule 1 heeft gereden, Felix Rosenqvist. Een top kampioenschap waarbij Nissan, Lexus en Honda een zeer mooie gelijkwaardige klasse GT500 hebben.

Men zal vanuit Duitsland water bij de wijn moeten doen om ook in Japan op niveau te kunnen opereren. Ja, de DTM is niet meer wat het ooit was in de jaren '90, maar heeft nog steeds potentie bij onze oosterburen. Ik vraag me alleen af of de Duitse DTM fan, die erg trouw is, daadwerkelijk een homologatie met Japan ziet zitten.

  Verder vind ik het wel jammer dat de DTM uit elkaar valt. Aan de andere kant bied het ook weer nieuwe kansen. Ik ben benieuwd.
  
  Race 2 op Hockenheim was iig al 1 van de beste races die ik dit jaar gezien heb

Goed nieuws en tijd ook voor andere merken dan om toe te treden tot het Super GT/DTM: Alfa Romeo, Citroen/Peugeot, Ford, Volkswagen, Opel misschien....zou geweldig zijn !
