Mercedes geeft rallykampioen Ogier kans op Red Bull Ring

Sebastien Ogier zal volgende maand deelnemen aan de DTM-races op de Red Bull Ring. Dat heeft Mercedes bevestigd. Ogier is meervoudig rallykampioen en ziet zijn overstap naar de DTM als een verbreding van zijn horizion.

"Dit is een heel spannende ervaring", aldus Ogier tegenover GPUpdate.net. "De DTM is totaal nieuw voor me maar ik probeer elke ronde zo veel mogelijk te leren. Ik zie dit als een mooie gelegenheid om mijn racehorizon te verbreden en meer ervaring op te doen."

"Tot nu toe heb ik weinig gereden op permanente circuits, slechts een paar races in de GT-wagen", vervolgt de Fransman. "Een DTM-auto is natuurlijk sneller. Uiteraard kan je als gastrijder niet verwachten meteen competitief te zijn."

    Kandidaat voor een Toro Rosso stoeltje? Zou wel tof zijn. Deze gast kan serieus goed rijden al is een formule wagen wel 100% anders als een ralley wagen. Maar toch... ze hebben beide 4 wielen, een engine en een stuur...

      Bij Red Bull kijken ze naar kwaliteit en niet naar leeftijd. Eigenlijk is Hartley ook al ‘te oud’ voor Toro Rosso. Als Ogier de aspiratie en de kwaliteit heeft om f1 te racen én hij heeft een licentie dan zal Red Bull niet aarzelen om hem een stoeltje te geven. Zal ook een marketingstunt van jewelste zijn!

      Er was een rallyrijder die het zou hebben gekunt en dat was Loeb. Met alle respect, maar Ogier gaat t al zwaar hebben in een DTM auto. Zijn tak van sport is toch een hele andere manier van rijden en daar moet je uiteraard ook respect voor hebben.

      T valt me wel op dat de Red Bull Ring al hun grote evenementen binnen 2 en een halve maand hebben gegooid. Motogp is dit weekend, F1 is 4 week geleden en DTM volgende maand.

      Loeb was op de circuits(WTCC en GT's) ook niet bepaald een succes

      net zoals Raikkonen en Kubica niet zo best waren als rallyrijders

      het is een heel ander spelletje

    Laat hem lekker rallysport blijven daar is hij op zijn plaats in de dtm rijdt hij alleen maar in de weg.
