Rast wint tweede race in Zolder, Frijns valt uit

Rene Rast heeft de tweede race van de DTM-ronde op het circuit van Zolder gewonnen. De Audi-coureur bleef in een attractieve wedstrijd de winnaar van de eerste race, Philipp Eng, voor.

Rast had na 39 ronden een voorsprong van ongeveer tien seconden op de BMW van Eng. Polesitter Sheldon van der Linde finishte als vijfde hij werd in de laatste ronde nog gepasseerd door Mike Rockenfeller en Jamie Green. Jamie Green werd derde omdat hij tijdens de Safety Car fase een 'gratis' bandenstop had gemaakt. Door het verse rubber ging Green als een warm met door de boter. Rast viel gisteren in de eerst race uit met koelingsproblemen.

Bij de start kwam Robin Frijns, net zoals gisteren, niet goed weg. De Nederlander kwam in de eerste ronde in gevecht met Timo Glock. Frijns reed daarna aan solide race en klom op naar de derde plaats.

Na de pitstop-cyclus reed Frijns voor de BMW van Marco Wittmann, de Duitser drong aan en toucheerde uiteindelijk onze landgenoot bij het uitkomen van de eerste bocht. Frijns spinde en kon zijn weg niet meer vervolgen.

Rast had alles onder controle en reed vervolgens, na zijn pitstop in ronde twaalf, probleemloos naar de finish. Robin Frijns zakt met zijn dubbele 'nul-score' naar de zesde plaats in het kampioenschap. Philipp Eng is de leider in het kampioenschap, Rene Rast staat tweede. Het verschil tussen beide coureurs is drie punten.

Frijns meldt op zijn Twitter dst hij geen respons kreeg van zijn gaspedaal bij het uitkomen van de bocht. Gaf gas, maar gebeurde niets.

  Zag er in eerste instantie knullig uit van Wittmann, wat er eigenlijk gebeurt is omdat Frijns van lijn veranderd op het einde van start finish heeft hij een slechte roll in op de volgende bocht wat idd er voor zorgt dat hij understeer heeft met als gevolg een verraste Wittmann die Frijns een zachte punter geeft.
  
  Wat Wittmann erna doet tsja .. iets te veel willen als je 't mij vraagt, denk wel dat de straf gerechtvaardigd was!
