Ralf Schumacher en Coulthard racen ook in 2011 voor Mercedes

Mercedes heeft ook dit jaar plek voor oud Formule 1-coureurs Ralf Schumacher en David Coulthard in de DTM. Voor Schumacher, die voor het HWA-team zal rijden, betreft het zijn vierde seizoen in de toerwagenserie. Coulthard verdedigt de eer van Team Mucke Motorsport en begint aan zijn tweede jaargang in de DTM.

De Schot verklaart: Het doet me veel deugd om in 2011 nogmaals in de DTM te racen. Mijn leertijd is voorbij, nu moet ik progressie tonen. Ik heb vorig jaar veel geleerd en een mooie fundering voor een tweede seizoen gelegd. Na mijn eerste punt in de slotrace van 2010 in Sjanghai wil ik mijn fans dit jaar vaker laten juichen voor puntenfinishes.

Ralf Schumacher: Met veel plezier maak ik onderdeel uit van de DTM en de Mercedes-familie. Subtiele nuances zijn belangrijk in deze zwaarbevochten serie. Als je de set-up met een fractie kan verbeteren, levert dat veel tijdwinst op. Na drie jaar in de DTM, waarvan twee jaar bij HWA, ben ik klaar om een volgende stap te zetten in mijn vierde seizoen in deze klasse.
